CSK won by 6 wickets
Today’s game made me write! The match was played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI). CSK had won all its matches whereas, MI haven’t yet opened the account.
MI won the toss and decided to bat first. MI made three changes: Lendl Simmons replaced Aaron Finch, Harbhajan Singh and Ambati Rayudu were back and the CSK skipper MS Dhoni played with the unchanged squad. Parthiv Patel was out for a duck by Nehra. A few deliveries later, nehra made Corey Anderson to return back to pavilion, after a stunning and flawless catch by du Plessis. And the bad luck continued. Pandey took the wicket of Simmons. From here, MI required a miracle and Harbhajan Singh took the command. Why Rohit Sharma didn’t come, remained the question. Pollard scored a fifty and MI ended up with an unexpected total of 183 runs.
The target appeared a bit difficult for CSK to chase, despite a deep-rooted batting order. This gave MI fans a reason to cheer up and lift up their hope. McCullum and Smith hammered the hope and cheers of MI and its fans. They proved to be destructive and turned the match. Smith scored a fifty. The required run rate was around 9 at the beginning, and the opening pair charged the run rate of over 15 mercilessly. Du Plessis and Dhoni were out and didn’t score much. Bravo and Raina took CSK to a massive win.
Whether it is the lady luck that shines over the CSK skipper, especially after the birth of daughter Ziva or it is the opening pair for CSK or star bowlers or long batting line-up, the fact remains unchanged, CSK a is very hard-hitting competitor lead by a skipper knowing how to win!
