Harry Potter and The Cursed Child – Review

“When spares are spared

When time is turned

When unseen children murder their fathers

The 8th book in the supremely famous ‘Harry Potter’ series was released across the world yesterday i.e. 31 st July, incidentally the birthday of Harry potter himself. But this is not a novel like the other 7 in the series but a script of a play that co-written by JK Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne. The story brings back the old characters like Minerva Mcgonagall (who is now the Headmistress of Hogwarts), Draco Malfloy (whose character will surely surprise you) and of course the Famous Three.

Mild Spoilers ahead, but I assure you that they will want you to read the book even more. 😉

The story is set 19 years later after the battle of Hogwarts and begins with the epilogue of the 7 th book (Harry potter and the Deathly hallows).

Harry and Ginny’s second child ‘Albus severus Potter’ is about to start his first year at Hogwarts along with the first child of Ron and Hermione Weasley ‘Rose Granger-Weasley) and Draco Malfoy’s son ‘Scorpius’.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Review @ Entwined Allusions

There are malicious rumors surrounding ‘Scorpius’ but in-spite of that ‘Scorpios’ and ‘Albus’ become friends. ‘Albus’ is sorted into the Slytherin house along with ‘Scorpius’ and there starts the story of growing estrangement between ‘Albus’ and Harry and Albus’s struggle with the weight of expectations the name of Potter brings in itself.

Harry and Hermione have joined the ministry of magic, though I will not reveal their respective designations but they are sure to bring a smile to your face when you find out for yourself.

The story also brings back the time-turner, all of which were supposedly destroyed in the room of prophecies in 1997 (Harry’s 5 th year at Hogwarts). Certain characters use the time turner to convolute the past and thus the story passes into alternate pasts and futures which must be fixed the world will not the same as it was set after the battle of Hogwarts.

To sum it all up, the book does justice to the ‘Harry Potter’ legacy and is very much worth your time. So, get your hands on a copy ASAP.

PS. It would also be very interesting to find out who the cursed child is.
