As we stared discovering Incentives of Life, we figured 3 H’s of Life. We have already discussed Health: 1st H of Life, now let’s discuss happiness. When we are happy we celebrate our life, that’s why happiness is our 2nd H of Life. Everything we do or want to do has a need to be happy attached to it.
Here’s a sweet, innocent incident that explains the relation between life and happiness:
“When I was 5 years old, my mother told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life”
We often forget this simple thing that happiness is the key to life. We thrive with our desire to be happy. We need financial as well as emotional happiness for a life which we dream about. It is the aspiration to make others happy which in turn makes you happy.
It’s a popular belief that ‘the more money you earn more happy you will be’.
Do you also think that’s true? Well, no matter how deeply I believe that emotional happiness comes foremost, I do agree to fact that being financially sound does contribute to being happy.
We need money to buy stuff, sometimes stuff that we simply don’t need, but it does make us happy. I mean if u get a sports car or a large mansion or a private plane, it will make you happy, obviously. But, you simply don’t need those. The fact that you can do what many can’t, fact that it’s a luxury, is what makes you happy. Being unique, doing something extraordinary makes you happy.
More importantly you need money to provide for your loved ones. When we surprise someone, their happiness is what makes you happy in return. The fact that you can make others happy drives you to work harder. It drives you to make a better life not only for yourself but for the ones you love or care about.
Before we discuss about emotional happiness, I would like you to imagine a scenario- You are a multi-millionaire, one of the richest person alive on the earth right now. You have many expensive cars, personal airplane, your dream house, lots of parties and fleet of people at your service. You have every possible thing you want, or you can buy almost anything. But, you come home to yourself, you eat alone. When you’re ill you are surrounded by doctors and nurses but no one who actually loves you. There are thousand people who want to be close to you but only cause you have money. Other than that you have no one, not even as much as a friend.
Here’s my question: Can you still be happy?
“Once your basic needs are met, more money won’t make you happier.
To increase your happiness, make other people happy.”
After a certain amount money doesn’t matter. If you don’t have love and care, no matter how much money you have you can’t be happy permanently. You need emotional support, people who love you simply because you are you. Money can’t buy love, it can’t make memories. They are people around us that do that. It’s the ones we love, who love us, that make us happy.
We seek money to make others happy that in turn makes us happy. It’s the smile on other people’s face that brings one on ours. It’s the simple fact that you are the reason that someone, anyone is smiling contributes to true happiness. And unfortunately we forget that.
Remember, there are people -your parents, your friends, and your family- who are sad when you are sad and are happy when you are happy. It is this little knowledge that will make you happy even in the darkest times. It won’t make everything alright, but it will certainly make you feel lot better. Give you inspiration to never lose hope and keep moving forward.
And though it all is true, it is you who can contribute to your happiness.
“Happiness starts with you, not with your relationships, not with your job, not with your friends, but with you.”
With all that said, I think you would agree that happiness is definitely an important H in our Life.
Till the time we reveal 3rd and final H of Life, Be Happy and Smile…
