Build up to the first semi-final

World Cup- 2015 0 38

The first semi final will be player between two world cricket giants i.e., South Africa and New Zealand. So, now lets analyse two teams.

Lets take South Africa first.

They have been a bit jittery during the group stage and lost to the major teams of the group. Even though their captain is having a great WC with a bat but others have failed to come to party collectively . But having said that nobody can deny the fact that South Africa has the one the most potent batting line up in the world with the likes of Hashim Amla, Faf du Plesis, and the captain AB de Villeirs himself.

South African bowlers have come good through out the tournament and how they bowled out Sri Lanka for a petty score in the quarter finals only goes on to prove their lethality. Dale Steyn is yet to deliver a performance consistent with his standard and if he comes into his own in the semis, New Zealand can very well kiss their world cup dream goodbye.

Fielding has been yet another positive factor in SA performances and with their superhuman captain leading from the front and plucking some of the most memorable catches of the this WC, SA is a force to reckon with.

Coming to the team which hasn’t lost a single match in the tournament till now and has been led by a flamboyant Brendon McCullum . NZ has been in supreme form this WC. They have been clinical in their performances. With McCullum providing them with blistering starts more often than not. And with the new found rhythm by their opening bowlers they have indeed become a lethal force. Tim Southee and Trent Boult have bowled with fire and accuracy. And with Daniel Vettori again at his best NZ bowling look extremely potent. NZ batting line up is stuffed with power hitters, starting from McCullum and Guptill up till Corey Anderson. Just like SA, NZ is also a very good fielding unit both on the the ground and in catching department.

This match is expected to be a very entertaining one. But one thing is sure, one team after this match will walk out with a ‘chokers’ tag as NZ has played 6 semis before and is yet to win and SA is famous for screwing up big games.

So,stay tuned for the big match summary.
